NYC Recap & Outfit Details

Hi everyone! This past weekend I traveled to NYC and had the best time. It was my first trip to the city that I really got a good feel of what it would be like to live there, and after this weekend I can definitely see myself moving there. My brother and I both have some friends in the city, so we decided to take the trip together. It was also great to spend some time with him!

Thursday our flight landed pretty early, so we still had a full day in the city. Our first stop was Shake Shack- my brother has never had it and I love their burgers. After Shake Shack, I checked into my hotel, The Merrion Row. I will be doing a separate post all about my stay, it was so great there! When I was settled in we headed to MOMA and did some shopping in Soho. By that time, our friends were finished with work for the day, so my brother and I met up with them. My friend Abby (@abigailaogden, who recently moved to the city, stayed with me for a few nights. We had the best dinner at the hotel, and got some rest for an exciting day on Friday.

Friday started out breakfast at the Public House (the restaurant in my hotel), and then a meeting at the Brooks Brothers Flagship Store! The store is incredible, and has the cutest café inside. I also was able to check out some of the new arrivals to their Red Fleece collection, and try a few pieces on I had been eyeing. I went home with this stunning tweed jacket that couldn't be cuter! After that, I headed to the Lilla P showroom and met up with my gal pal Viv (@vivianeaudi) there. We had so much fun getting custom lipstick colors made by @shespokemakeup, and checking out the Lilla P (@lillap) collection. There are SO many great spring / summer pieces in the collection! After that Viv, Abby, and I walked around Washington Square Park and the West Village. Later that evening, we met up with my brother and friends for an evening at The Campbell (@thecampbellbar). It was such a fun night!

I've been searching for the perfect nude lip- so fun making a custom color at the Lilla P event!

My coat is by  Ellsworth & Ivey , but is unfortunately unavailable. Shop this look:

From The Eyes of My 9th Grade Self

Happy Tuesday everyone! I don't write a lot of personal posts- but this is one I've been wanting to write for a long time.

I started my blog six years ago- can you believe that? I began as a freshman in high school, time has really flown by since then. It's crazy to me what a huge part of my life all of you have become. I've documented myself from a 14-year-old high school freshman with braces, to an adult in college. My blog has been something that has made me incredibly happy and experience things I never thought I would. I couldn't be more grateful to all of you who have supported me, and bring me joy everyday of my life. Blogging has become second nature to me, and there are so many things I love about it. In today's society though, I think it is so important that everyone realizes most people only share the good happening in their lives.

Blogging can get discouraging sometimes, and its really hard to not compare yourself to others. Being a full-time student in addition to blogging can get difficult. It's hard to constantly have creative content. I spend the majority of my time in class, at the gym, and in the library at school- which doesn't make for the most entertaining Instagram feed. There's times when I'm looking at full-time blogger feeds, and start to feel like I'm not doing enough. Lately I have been looking at things from the perspective of my 9th-grade self. I started my blog during my freshman year of high school in 2013. At that point I just used my blog and Instagram as a creative outlet to share my interests with those who had similar. I would've never dreamed of continuing my blog for all of these years! If 14-year-old Abby saw what I was doing now, she would freak out! In the past six years I've been lucky enough to have met incredible people and have had experiences I never thought would've happened. I love the quote "remember when you wanted what you currently have". I'm so thankful for my life today, and couldn't do this without you guys! Life isn't about likes, and followers. It's about connecting with people and being yourself.  I think we all need this reminder sometimes. This year for me has been one of the hardest in my life, going through a break-up and dealing with some health issues with one of my family members. I can't thank you all enough for your continued support throughout the years- it means the world to me.

Thanks for reading, love you guys!

CHS Through The Lens of My Film Camera

Hi everyone! Do you ever have those moments in life where you feel like something was completely meant to be? Over the summer I kept contemplating purchasing a film camera, but was apprehensive since I didn't think I'd use it on a daily basis. Before heading to work one day, I stopped at an estate sale. I could've spent my whole day there if I didn't have to run to work! The house had so many treasures in it. I ended up finding my Pentax K1000 in perfect condition- and the best part it was only $25!! I've been having so much fun learning how to use it. I took it to Charleston with me to test out what I've been learning, and absolutely love how the shots turned out. Film photography helps me appreciate things, and reminds me that good things take time. Today we're so used to instant gratification and having everything right away. I love that when shooting film, you have to be thoughtful with every shot. The suspense of waiting to develop the film, and reliving the moment when you see the photos is so special.

Here's some film snapshots from my trip- hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them!
