Stars, Stripes, and Gingham

It's almost the Fourth of July! The Fourth has been my favorite holiday since I was a little girl. My family always has a huge party at the lake and has the best time. Because of COVID this year is looking a little different and we're having a smaller gathering at our cottage. In today's post, I'm sharing a few easy, yet delicious recipes that are perfect for a last-minute party.

Have the best Fourth of July!

A charcuterie board is a party must-have! I added a patriotic touch with a star cutout and some fresh berries for garnish. Don't forget to leave out some toothpicks and plates to make it safe for everyone! Here's how I go about making a cheese board:

Start with a few varieties of cheese
Add a few different types of meat and crackers
Use things like herbs and berries for garnish
You can always expand on this with things like nuts, jam, etc. I find these to be the most basic elements of a charcuterie!

These Caprese skewers are delicious and so easy to make! Here's what you'll need

Grape Tomatoes
Fresh Mozzarella
Basil Leaves
Balsamic Vinaigrette drizzle
Bamboo Skewers

A safer way to serve Rice Crispie Treats! I just cut paper straws in half to make Rice Crispie pops!

Classics With A Twist

Hi everyone! White jeans and a striped tee is always a go-to look for me in the summer. In today's post, I'm putting a little trendy twist on this classic combo. Wide leg pants have always been something that I loved, but tend to stay away from because of my height (5'2").  Every time I put them on I feel like they cut me off make me look even shorter. Recently I added these nude Margaux Pointe flats to my shoe collection and I don't know how I lived without them! The color and pointed toe really elongates my legs and helps me be able to wear things I couldn't before. I know they are going to be a staple in my wardrobe and are a necessity in any closet. They are beautifully made and definitely worth the investment. Margaux carries so many great classics.

My Latest Obsession: Rash Guards

Hi everyone! You may have read my post about sunscreen the other day, and my latest discovery for extra sun protection is rash guards. I received this one from Cover Swim and cannot get enough of it. It not only offers sun protection, but it is also sustainably made and adorable. I've never felt so chic in swimwear! I'm also linking a bunch of my other favorite rash guards under $100 below. I paired my suit with a big sun hat from the Lonestar Southern x Impeccable Pig collab launching today- you can shop it here. This scarf from J McLaughlin also makes the perfect sarong.

My Favorite Sunscreens

Happy Monday everyone! I've been spending a lot of time at the beach recently, which means I've been wearing a lot of different sunscreens. There are so many to choose from, but I finally found my favorites ranging from everyday wear to a full sun beach day. Two years ago, I barely wore sunscreen and would soak up all of the sun that I could. I now realize how important it is to wear sunscreen not just on beach days, but every day. Protecting your skin from the sun helps prevent aging, skin cancer, and more and it's so important to get into the habit of wearing sunscreen. In today's post, I'm sharing all of my go-to sunscreens and why they're my favorites! Plus all of the sunscreen I'm sharing is under $30!

Here are all of my favorites, adding a breakdown of why I love each below!

For everyday wear, I love using this Cerave moisturizer with SPF 30.  I have pretty sensitive skin, but this has never made me break out and leaves my skin feeling soft and supple. Since it combines my moisturizer and SPF I never forget to wear it! It also leaves a great base for my makeup and I've noticed my makeup goes on very smoothly after using it.

For my face, I use Neutrogena Age Shield SPF 110.  This sunscreen is truly amazing. It is oil-free so it doesn't make me break out. I sat in the sun all day yesterday and did not see any signs of sun damage on my skin.

For my body, Coppertone Glow is one of my favorites. I actually did a partnership for the launch of this product last year and have used it since I discovered it then! It's the perfect balance of sun protection with a little bit of shimmer that leaves me feeling my best at the beach. So many of my friends use this too and love it!

Supergoop is a sunscreen brand that I've used for years. Not only are their products amazing, but they have such adorable branding as well. I love this Jet Set SPF kit. It's only $28 and makes the perfect companion for a girl on the go. There's a variety of sunscreen and it comes in the cutest little pouch. I always throw it in my bag wherever I'm headed.

The perfect look for a beach day:
